Many people have their own stamp on them, too. You will surely find them on the menu at almost every single country or Southern-centered joint. If you want to go to a great "family style" restaurant in East Tennessee, The Farmer's Daughter in Chuckey, TN is head and shoulders above Paula Deen's Family Kitchen. Smothered pork chops are a quintessential Southern-esque meal comprised of fried or baked pork chops that are generously covered in thick gravy. Bottom line - the little bit of food I ate was pretty good but I definitely will not be back. And the atmosphere - whew, very loud! We couldn't even talk to each other at our table because it was so overwhelmingly loud. It's definitely not hurting their business or bottom line! I also agree with other reviewers that the amount of food that is thrown always is absolutely a disgrace. I understand this policy but it was a little piece of dessert for a little girl that didn't feel well! We have the same type of restaurant in my hometown and they always let us take our desserts. I asked if we could at least take her dessert with us (we paid for a whole meal that wasn't eaten) and the waitress curtly informed me that absolutely no take-outs were allowed. My daughter wasn't feeling well and wasn't able to eat anything. I tried a little of the peach cobbler and it was almost sickeningly sweet.
